Fire in the Blizzard

Updated: Jan 4

I had wandered long in the cold of forgetting,

my prayers like embers lost in snowdrift.

Then I heard you....

Come come,

come find your way to my fire,

in the starry depths of this dark and holy night.

I long to be One with you again.

I have seen you beneath the North Giant’s dark eye,

where freezing winds whip the trees,

shaking ravens from their roosts.

You have thought yourself alone,

but I am the breath in the storm-

my voice the howl,

my gaze never leaving your lonely shores.

And still you did not know me.

Though your blood remembers

your pain upon these ancient sands

and the seas roil in their beds-

white waves, hungry as wolves

frothing and wild-eyed

through this blinding tempest,

I have called to you-

find me!

Oh Beloved, seek me out!

As the icy rain blew in sideways

creaking the rafters of your house,

shaking you in your dreams.

I called,

Awaken.

Come, seek out the undying light

of my heart-fire.

Find me within the solace

of your most interior chamber;

my flames licking at the dark edges

of your holy vessel.

Both dancer and witness,

lover of shadow and light,

I feast on the dried bones

you feed me,

of birch and pine.

I feel you,

child of my creation-

struggling between the veils of life and death.

Fight for me!

For this life-breath!

Never cease in your yearning,

never cease, I beg of you!

For your longing

is felt like an untouchable ache

within the deep crevices

of my starless bosom.

Seek me, Beloved,

with the courage of the ages.

Throw yourself upon the pyre

of my Eternal Love.

For we are one in this devotion,

and I am hungry for the sweet taste

of God’s name upon your breath.

Come, come- burn up in this fire of God.

Do not be afraid.

Burn down,

until you are nothing but velvety white ash;

become the offering upon the brow.

Cross over the endless dreaming sea,

into the arms of the Beloved-

a scorched and purified vessel

with no thought of return.
